iPhone and HDR video
iPhone HDR and Dolby Vision clips are welcome. They are converted once to standard range with matched colour, so they sit next to the other cameras without looking grey or washed out.
Steps
- Upload the original files: on an iPhone pick them from the Files app, or transfer the originals before uploading.
- Mixed and variable frame rates are fine. Every clip is converted to one steady frame rate.
- HEVC (H.265) files are accepted. If the browser can't read one, the tool says it will read it after upload; that isn't an error.
- Log footage from cameras is detected and graded to match the other clips.
Questions
Should I turn off HDR on my iPhone?
No. Shoot the way you like; HDR clips are handled.
Why does HDR video look grey on some sites?
Many sites show HDR wrongly. The edit is delivered in standard range, so it looks the same everywhere.
Can I get an HDR master?
Not yet. Every edit is delivered in standard range (SDR).
